The company also offers a 20-year “repair or replace” guarantee to their consumers in order to encourage longevity. Founder

Lüks Linen was founded in 2015 by former ad director Rachel Ward. After several years working in London for music and video game brands, a holiday in Turkey and the discovery of the endlessly versatile peshtemal led Rachel's career in a very different, although somewhat unsurprising direction. Rachel grew up surrounded by makers, carpenters, seamstresses and craftswomen. Her grandmother Jeanne taught her to knit  at the age of six, and her mother had her sat at a sewing machine as soon as she hit double digits so, despite the diversion into a career in advertising, working with textiles again was something of a homecoming. Starting Lüks Linen, Rachel was once again being shown the ropes, or rather the warp and weft of weaving by family ateliers and master weavers.

“Our range is a marriage of traditional methods and modern design in warm neutrals and the occasional colour pop to complement a diverse range of interiors and ways of living.”

Materials

The brand prefers natural materials - wherever possible, the cotton used by is 100% GOTS-certified and OEKO Tex Standard 100-certified. The small family ateliers that  Lüks Linen works with cannot always afford the GOTS certification fee, but the brand doesn't wish to let that preclude them from working together, as supporting small businesses is one of their cornerstone philosophies. The company has also introduced linen and Tencel into their range and plans to go 100% organic.

People

Lüks Linen ateliers are family-led, with weavers and finishers who work fixed hours and earn a living wage. Whenever possible, the company visits their weavers in Turkey to ensure ethical working conditions.

Production

All Lüks Linen production takes place in in Denizli, Buldan and Hatay in Turkey.

Packaging

The company uses recycled or recyclable packaging, avoiding single-use plastic and preferring biodegradable packing bags, cornstarch stickers, FSC-certified acid-free paper and, where possible, plant based inks.
