Ross Oliver is the first British vegan brand creating footwear made from cactus leather. Featured in GQ and London Magazine, Ross Oliver has also been nominated for several awards.

Founder

Ross Saunders is a BSc graduate in science – on a bet from a friend, he decided to create his own shoe for graduation, and upon doing that, he found that he had actually fallen in love with the process of making footwear, which led to the creation of the brand.

“It is crucial to us to start a conversation on cactus leather benefits, environmental positives and more through marketing and design.”

Materials

Cactus leather is made from the Nopal cactus that grows in Mexico – this plant requires almost no water at all, making it much kinder to the environment than animal leather. Cactus leather is also durable and resistant, ensuring the items will last a long time. It is also PVC-free. The brand also uses rubber and organic cotton.

People

All workers in Ross Oliver's supply chain are paid a living wage.

Production

The brand makes its designs locally in Britain, through a collaborative process utilising strict guidelines. The factory is family-run since generations back, while the supplier is an ethical start-up. Ross Oliver is working towards becoming a net-zero brand.

Packaging

Fully recycled and recyclable packaging is used at Ross Oliver.

Animals

Ross Oliver is a vegan brand.
